2nd LPT and DA challenge: LPT cases
New: result submission now open!
To participate to the 2nd LPT Challenge, please submit your results until April 29th (included) using the "Submit LPT Results" button on the left. Please note that a user account is mandatory and that you must be logged in for your upload to be valid, and that your result should be uploaded together with a description of the algorithm used (in PDF format).
Three LPT cases are available, each with a different assessment objective:
- Case 1 contains time-resolved (TR) synthetic data of a turbulent channel flow, at a seeding density of 0.1 particles per pixel (ppp), for three different time separations between the pulses.
- Case 2 consists of synthetic two-pulse (TP) and TR acquisitions of a near-wall flow downstream of cylindrical obstacles. Datasets explore various seeding densities, as well as the influence of two geometrical effects (Mie scattering considered or not, field viewed by all or only a subset of the cameras, controlled by the "I/U" ratio, between the volumes of the intersection and union of cameras' fields of view)
- Case 3 is an experimental test case, whereby Rayleigh-Bénard Convection is investigated using TP and TR sequences, at various seeding densities.
For each case, separate download links (to the left) are available for getting instructions and calibration data, and image sets. Note that the TR dataset of Case 2 has been split in two archives, each with a dedicated download link.
Participants can submit results for the TP or TR acquisitions, or for both. However please note that a minimum number of results should be mandatorily submitted for participation to be accepted:
- Participants should process Case 3 as well as at least one other case between Cases 1 and 2
- For each case selected, a minimum number of subcases should be processed:
- Case 1: all three subcases
- Case 2: seeding densities up to 0.12 ppp included, as well as all I/U and Mie configurations
- Case 3: seeding densities up to 0.07 ppp included (TR) and 0.045 ppp included (TP)
Also, a participant can submit several results on the same case and acquisition if these are obtained using different algorithms, i.e. algorithms relying on sufficiently different working principles. Submitting several results on the same case by only changing parameter tuning is not allowed.
Together with the results, participants will be asked to upload a description of the algorithm used. The corresponding deadline is April 29th, 2025 and official result upload will be accessible on the present page, from April 7th.
